Finansinspektionen has decided on new general guidelines that as of 1 November 2016 replace FFFS 2015:14 with regard to remuneration policy.
The amendment entails that the general guidelines no long apply to Swedish fund management companies. These undertakings shall instead meet the requirements on remuneration systems set out in the UCITS 5 Directive. These general guidelines also do not apply to institutions that issue electronic money. Otherwise, only editorial changes have been made to the general guidelines.
Undertakings should have a remuneration policy that is in line with good risk management and that does not encourage short-term profits and excessive risk-taking. The document offers guidance in how an undertakings should manage the risks that may arise as a result of variable remuneration.
The general guidelines enter into force on 1 November 2016.
