Starting on 23 January, Martin Noréus will take over as the new Executive Director of the Banking Section at FI. He will also continue in his role as the Deputy Director General.
Martin Noréus previously worked in Banking during the years 2009−2012, in part as the Deputy Executive Director.
Uldis Cerps, the current Executive Director of Banking, will become a Senior Advisor to Director General Erik Thedéen. He will thereby continue to hold a central role in FI's management and be able to focus more on international policy and regulatory work. Uldis Cerps will continue to represent FI in the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the Board of Supervisors for the European Banking Authority (EBA).
"I would like to thank Uldis for the excellent manner in which he has guided the Banking Section at FI, through the financial crisis in 2008 and during the extensive changes that have occurred in the financial sector since then. FI's banking supervision is entering into a new phase, particularly since we will receive a greater responsibility for the supervision of Nordea. We therefore need to gather our resources and focus even more closely on developing and streamlining our supervision work. I am pleased that we have found a good solution that allows us to fully benefit from Martin's strong leadership skills at the same time as we handle the widening scope of international cooperation. I am also pleased to have the support of a Senior Advisor whose judgement and expertise I greatly value", says FI:s director general Erik Thedéen.
