Let FI know!

You may report information about regulatory violations on the financial market to FI. Such tip-offs could demonstrate, for example, systematic deficiencies in how firms follow laws and regulations and thus help us in our work. However, we cannot intervene in private matters.

In-person assistance

If you have a complaint about a firm and would like in-person assistance, contact the firm’s complaints officer. As an alternative, you can also contact the Swedish National Board for Consumer Complaints or a general court of law.

How to contact FI

Email a short description of the course of events and the impropriety you observed to finansinspektionen@fi.se. Attach any documents that support your description. The more clearly you can describe the problem, the easier it is for FI to make an assessment about the event you consider to be incorrect. If you would like, you may encrypt your email.

If you are not able to communicate via email, write us a letter or call us via the switchboard at +46 (0)8 408 980 00. Our telephone hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9–11 AM.

FI will send you a response that your information has been received. If there are multiple reports on the same topic, FI may open an investigation. You will not be part of any such investigation, and you will not be informed about the progress of such investigations. The methods with which we carry out our supervision of authorised firms are confidential.

However, tip-offs from the public are important for our work, and by extension they improve firms’ behaviour. However, we will not be able to pursue your specific complaint. By contacting FI, though, you are contributing to the improvement of the financial market, for which we are grateful.

All information submitted to FI is considered public information that can be requested for release by the general public. Read more about public information.

Questions about personal finances

For matters related to personal banking and insurance – contact the Swedish Consumers’ Banking and Finance Bureau or the Swedish Consumers Insurance Bureau. Their telephone hours are 9 AM-12 PM at 0200 22 58 00 (for calls within Sweden). Website: konsumenternas.se.

Contact the correct authority or organisation

FI accepts tip-offs about violations of the rules on the financial markets but does not offer personal advice. Read more about our work with consumer protection. Learn more about what other authorities and organisations that work with consumer protection can do for you.
