The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has published instructions on how to access the reference data that is covered by the MAR and MiFID II/MiFIR regulations. The EU authority has also published current reference data that is available for download.
ESMA's instructions include details on the reference data files that will be published on a weekly basis (full files) and daily (delta files) and instructions on how to download them.
The reference data that is currently available has also been published. It is possible to search in ESMA's register, Financial Instruments Reference Data System (FIRDS), which is accessed via the authority's website.
Using the reference data from FIRDS, market participants will be able to prepare for the obligation to report reference data laid down by MAR and MiFID II/MiFIR that enters into force on 3 January 2018.
